ACTING STUDIO Showcase 03/27

(OPEN)

Hi VoC Parents!

With the end of this second trimester, we'll be presenting small samples of our work from class.  The showcase will be at 10am on Wednesday March 27th in the OYES theater on the VoC campus.  The seating for the theater will open at 9:50am.

Thursday students (Acting Studio) are called at 9:00 am to practice their play readings onstage.

Please ensure that each student has at least 1-2 pages of their play TYPED out into this google document.  (we still need updates from Aria and Feyne).  Students will be reading up to three pages of each of their plays for the audience.  Playwrights will also need to have a finalized casting (for the readings) that morning.

Use the "Outline" feature in the "View" tab to find each student's play.  We will have printed/highlighted copies of the plays for the morning of the showcase.  DEADLINE: Plays must be ready and in the google doc file by TUESDAY March 26th at 6:00pm.

Thanks so much, and let me know if you have any questions :)

Best,

Casey

MAGIC MOVERS

Hi Parents,

The VOC Trimester showcase is coming up in a few weeks on the morning of THURSDAY November 16th.

Our three imaginative and playful students will perform "The Friendly Dragon" a short 5 minute narrated play.  I will be reading the narrator lines, and the students will perform the action as well as improvise certain lines onstage.  The play ends with a short 45 second song about judging based on appearances and the importance of simply being kind.

Gemimia has volunteered to play Rex the Dragon, and Brooklynn and Christopher will be performing the other roles (Knights, Jesters, Wizards, Minstrels and Little Kids).

Please read the story to them frequently, and invite them to improvise lines in the appropriate places.  Also ensure they have the choreography and song down.

We have class next week, and then no class on Tuesday Nov 14th.

Students are called to the THEATER at 10am to rehearse on Thursday Nov 16th and will perform in the Great Hall at 10:30am.

IMPORTANT!  Your student may be called EARLIER at 9:15am for CHOIR

Here is a link to the materials for the play.  Please let me know what questions you have!

ACTING STUDIO

Hi Parents,

The VOC Trimester showcase is coming up in a few weeks on the morning of THURSDAY November 16th.

Our imaginative and playful students will perform "The Day The Crayons Quit" a short 10 minute series of monologues.  Each student has been assigned a color from the book and has lines to memorize.

 Here are the scripts.

Each student was sent home with a hard copy last week and should know their color.

Please rehearse with the students at home focusing on the following acting values:

1) Memorization

2) "The Moment Before":  actors must show the audience their emotional state using body-language, gesture, sound and movement BEFORE they start speaking the words.

3) Being HIGHLY emotional onstage.  This is where the action and the comedy come from.  How deeply each crayon feels.  Please have them identify the emotions (deeper than anger or frustration) and WHY they feel this way.  What do they want Duncan to change?

4) Projection: the skill of speaking so that everyone in the room can hear you EASILY.

Students are called to the OYES THEATER at 10:00am to rehearse on Thursday Nov 16th and will perform in the Great Hall at 10:30am.

IMPORTANT!  Your student may be called EARLIER at 9:15am for CHOIR

Please let me know what questions you have!

all the best,

Casey
