Venue: Matilija Auditorium, Ojai, CA
Fri at 4pm (2 hours before showtime)
90-mins before showtime for all other shows.
Saturday Performances:
We will be performing in a new venue, and we're still finalizing details on whether we’ll be able to have our usual pizza party between shows. However, if this can be arranged, actors will be welcome to stay at the theater between performances, enjoy pizza, and relax. If they prefer to leave, please note their call time for the evening performance will be 4pm. Additionally, your actor is welcome to bring their own lunch if they'd like.
Q: Can I add more schedule conflicts later? No. All conflicts must be added by Auditions. Additional conflicts may only be added with permission from the Director.
Q: Are conflicts listed here considered "excused absences"? Yes
Q: What if my child is sick or there's an emergency? Emergency or Sick-Days are excused.
Unavailability for rehearsals can seriously affect rehearsal planning. We can not add conflicts later. All conflicts are due before the first rehearsal. If the actor misses a rehearsal that is planned around their scheduled availability, it is the actors responsibility to "catch up". Private rehearsal time with the directors is $45/hr.
Please, no additional conflicts (planned absences) or changes in availability after the first Saturday rehearsal. The rehearsal schedule will be set and all actors will be expected to attend as planned. The Conflict Form will be unavailable. Thank you :)

Character/jazz shoes (wear street shoes to rehearsal)
All actors are required to have jazz or character shoes. OYES has some available to borrow, but we do not have all sizes. If you plan on borrowing a pair, please plan to try them on well in advance.
Mon-Tue: Undergarments not required, but helpful for costume fittings. If your actor wears leggings and a tank under their shirt, this will be sufficient. Please have your actor bring jazz shoes. Jazz/character shoes will remain at the theater until the final show.
Wed-Sun: Dress Rehearsal & Shows - UNDERGARMENTS ARE REQUIRED
•NEW INFO: Actors need to bring an oversized (adult size) shirt to put on over costume when taking a snack/dinner break. Bring this shirt for dress rehearsal and shows.
Links for required items:
Dance shorts -- Please choose a neutral color.
Boys gym shorts -- Please choose a neutral color.
Camisole/Tank -- Please choose a color that matches your actors skin tone!
*OYES has some jazz shoes available to borrow. Please bring your own jazz shoes or extra pair if you have them to share. ALL ACTORS will wear jazz shoes.
Starting MONDAY: Please have actors' hair tied back in low ponytail or French braids (single or double)
RECOMMENDED: Bring your own hairbrush.
A special note about eating and costumes.
The general rule is that actors are not permitted to eat in their costumes. However, with young performers we have adapted the rule. Actors MUST have an over-shirt, onesie, or robe to cover their costume in order to eat while in costume.
Please read out loud at home with your actor.
Come to rehearsal with your undergarments on underneath your clothes.
Remove your street clothes and store them in your cubby.
A technician will attach your mic belt and headset before you put on your costume. DO NOT PUT YOUR COSTUME ON BEFORE YOUR MIC BELT.
After your mic is on, you may change into your costume.
After your costume is on, you will remain in the dressing room area until called to the stage for a sound check.
After rehearsal you will LEAVE YOUR CHARACTER/JAZZ SHOES at OYES until the final show.
PLEASE ARRIVE WITH YOUR UNDERGARMENTS ALREADY ON.
Please, never touch the mics.
The only person(s) permitted to adjust or remove the mic on the actor's face or the pack in their belt is a MIC TECHNICIAN.
Any accidental damage to a mic by mishandling (or dropping) can cost $$$ to replace.
Never touch the mic on your face, tug on the wire, or touch the pack in your mic belt
Final Reminders!
It is important to remember that absences are not permitted during tech week. Cast members are expected to attend all rehearsals they are called for unless prior approval has been given. Any absences from tech rehearsal can disrupt the planning, timing, and efficiency of the rehearsal process.
Finally, please remember that a musical is a living, breathing entity! Things don’t always go exactly as planned, so changes to the plan may be made during the rehearsal process. We promise to give you as much advance notice as possible on all changes that arise.
